IVF & treatments

In vitro fertilisation is not a single, isolated event. It is a carefully structured journey comprising distinct stages, each tailored to the unique clinical history and circumstances of every individual. The process typically begins with a thorough evaluation of your medical history and previous investigations. Should treatment be recommended, this is followed by cycle monitoring and, where appropriate, ovarian stimulation.
Once the follicles have reached optimal development, the egg collection is performed. In the laboratory, fertilisation is achieved using either conventional IVF or ICSI, depending on clinical indications. The resulting embryos are carefully monitored and, in accordance with your tailored treatment plan, embryo transfer may take place in either the fresh or a subsequent cycle. In certain cases, cryopreservation of the embryos is recommended for transfer at a later date.
This journey is entirely unique to you. Factors such as maternal age, ovarian reserve, semen quality, previous treatment history, and your own personal wishes all shape your path. Consequently, IVF should never be viewed as a rigid, one-size-fits-all protocol, but rather as a series of clinical decisions guided by a clear and shared objective.
In summary, the finest preparation does not lie in memorising every single step of the process. Rather, it is about understanding what we are assessing at each juncture, and the scientific reasoning behind it.
Each test represents just one part of a broader picture and should always be interpreted alongside your personal medical history, age, and other clinical findings.
